What do people think?

My 15 year old daughter loved the experience so much she’s booked in for next week.   Highly recommend.

Nicky (2018)

My daughter has absolutely loved the u18 swinging trapeze sessions this summer. Such a lovely group of people running it, making sure everyone is safe and having fun. She can’t wait to do more!

What to Expect

During a 2 hour workshop you can go from complete beginner to Flying trapeze star. Anyone can learn to fly or stand on the side-line and practice your cheerleading.

Students start the session with a warm up. They then try a trick on a low to the ground trapeze to learn what they will be doing in the sky. We then move onto the big rig! Students will try the trick on the flying trapeze bar and after a few successful attempts they may then try the trick to a catcher. A catcher swings opposite to the student and attempts to catch the hands of the student as they perform the trick.

Instructors provide guidance to you every step of the way to make you feel confident but more importantly so that you can have fun! You will wear a safety harness for the whole workshop and get clipped into various safety measures every step of the way. Flying trapeze is a process. Please do not expect to be perfect the first time!

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe?

Yes, everyone wears a safety belt when flying and climbing the ladder so you are always clipped in. There’s also a very large safety net underneath you for a safe landing.

Do you have to be strong?

In short, no. Our instructors work to your personal strengths and teach techniques that do not rely on how many weights you can lift! And there is nothing better for improving strength than Flying Trapeze!

What is the Age / Height / Weight limit?

Children ages 8+ are welcome to attend our childrens classes.

Ages 15+ are welcome to our adult classes. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the class

There is no upper age limit! Mike Wright, the founder of Above and Beyond is still performing flying trapeze at the ripe age of 75!

We have no height restrictions!

There is a 110kg weight restriction for the students’ protection. This is calculated based on the maximum body weight our instructors can take to ensure you land safely and controlled into the net.

Above and Beyond is committed to accessibility and flying for everyone. If you have any questions or specific requirements please feel free to contact aboveandbeyondaerial.team@gmail.com

What if I have a disability?

Here at Above and Beyond we want flying trapeze to be accessible for as many people as possible. But it is an activity that comes with limitations. If you have a disability please contact us aboveandbeyondaerial.team@gmail.com and we can see what we can do.

What if I have a health condition?

With any physical activity we trust that you know your own limitations when it comes to exercise. We are not qualified health advisors but we do suggest that you should not take part if you are pregnant, have an abdominal injury/condition or have any body injuries especially shoulder. Please consult a medical professional if you are unsure if flying trapeze is for you.

All participants are required to sign a waiver which will be done at the start of the first session.

What should I wear?

Any comfortable clothing that you can move freely in such as leggings or joggers. Baggy clothes, jeans or items above the knee are not suitable. We recommend you remove all jewellery before attending.

What if I am late?

For your first class we ask you to arrive 10 mins early as there are some forms we require you to fill out. We always recommend you arrive early for your class. Anyone 5 minutes late, might be allowed to join at the instructor’s discretion but we are afraid that if you miss the warm up then we cannot allow you to participate for your own safety.

What if it rains?

Please be aware that this is a weather dependent activity and as we all know British weather is unpredictable. We ask that you assume your class is going ahead unless we have contacted you otherwise. We will always try to inform you of any changes to a class at least an hour before the start time.

If weather conditions stop a class continuing less than 30mins into a class, the students will be able to rebook the class or be given a refund.

If weather conditions stop a class continuing up to 1 hour into a class, students will be entitled to a 50% discount on their next booking.

If you do not attend a class and we have not contacted you to say it is cancelled you are not qualified for a refund.

Please see our terms and conditions here.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule my class?

Cancellations are only permitted with 7 days notice.

No refund will be provided for cancellations made less than 7 days in advance or in case of no-show.

The student may transfer the booking to a different date at any time up to 48 hours prior to the class start date.
